The Central Subway project is a joint venture between CJA and Nicholson in downtown San Francisco. The JV is constructing the launch box for the tunnel boring machines, headwalls at the future station locations, and compensation grouting for buildings along the alignment. Types of work include slurry walls, secant piles, compensation grouting, and jet grouting performed under contract with Barnard Impregilo Healy Joint Venture (GC) for the SFMTA (owner). Internal bracing for the launch box was installed and removed using CJA steel.
The Central Subway is a 1.7 mile long light rail project that will extend the Third Line from the 4th Street Caltrain Station to Chinatown, with stations at Yerba Buena/Moscone, Union Square/Market Street, and Chinatown.
